About us

A real pathway from grassroots to the top level

R2P Skicross Team is the skicross development, training and racing programme of Club Esquí Valle de Benasque. We support every athlete from the youth categories to international competition, based in Cerler.

Skicross isn't learned alone

Skicross demands things that alpine skiing doesn't give you: courses with jumps and banked turns, starts, overtaking and race tactics. In Spain there are few places to train it, and almost everything is left to each family. R2P was created to solve that.

  • Professional courses
  • Shared costs
  • Specialist coaches
  • Equipment ready to go
  • Logistics handled
  • Continuity through the season

In the Benasque Valley since 2013

R2P is part of Club Esquí Valle de Benasque, which has been developing young competitive skiers since 2013. Today the programme brings together 22 athletes and is based in Cerler.

The valley isn't just where we train. It's where the project is built from, and we want competition to come here too.

Train smarter, not just more

Skicross and speed are trained together. Speed improves a skicross racer's technique; skicross teaches you to adapt to the terrain and race side by side.

Three skicross racers come out of a banked turn, with spectators behind them.

On the slope

Technique, lines, starts, features, jumps, speed, timing and race simulation.

A person works on skis at the bench in a room full of skis.

Off the slope

Strength and conditioning, recovery, planning and video analysis.

A technician works on a ski base with a power tool, at the side of the slope.

Technology

Filming, run-to-run comparison, timing and individual tracking.

A ski technician prepares a pair of skis in the workshop, surrounded by skis and tools.

Equipment

Ski technician, edges, waxing and tuning before every race.

Performance doesn't depend on a single ski session. It depends on a system.

More girls in skicross

In Spain there are few female skicross racers and almost no role models close to home. We want more girls and young women to discover this sport, have real role models and find a team where they can carry on.

The foundations are already there: an established women's group, with Spanish champions and racers in the Europa Cup and at the Junior World Championships.

  • We introduce skicross to new athletes.
  • We make it easier to access training and competitions.
  • We give continuity to those starting out, so they don't give up.
  • We take more female racers to national and international competitions.

Help us go further

Skicross is a sport of travel, equipment and lift passes. Every bit of support turns into days on snow, races and opportunities for athletes from the valley and beyond.
